During the third quarter of 2023, the performance of the top five communication apps on the Android platform in Nigeria revealed some interesting trends. Here are the key insights for each app, based on data from Sensor Tower.

LINE: Calls & Messages saw a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $3.2K in early September. Weekly downloads fluctuated slightly but remained fairly stable, ranging from approximately 5.0K to 5.7K. Active users hovered around the 560K mark, peaking at about 576K in mid-September.

SMS-Activate receive sms experienced a significant growth in weekly revenue, starting at $299 and ending at about $1.7K by the end of September. Downloads showed a similar upward trend, growing from 1.1K in late June to over 4.2K by the end of the quarter. Active users also increased, reaching over 12K.

Telegram enjoyed a consistent rise in weekly downloads, peaking at nearly 132K in the last week of September. Revenue also saw an upward trend, topping out at around $1.3K. Active users remained robust, averaging around 5.1M throughout the quarter.

Vyke: Second Phone/2nd Line showed moderate growth in weekly revenue, with a peak of about $998 in late September. Downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 1.1K and 1.6K. Active users stayed consistent, averaging around 14.9K.

Numero eSIM: Virtual Number witnessed steady weekly revenue, reaching up to $914 by the end of September. Downloads varied, peaking at 7.2K in early July and tapering off to around 4.8K by the end of the quarter. Active users remained fairly stable, averaging around 22K.
